Doug Anderson to Retire

(Blooming Prairie, MN October 6, 2023) – In 2018 Craig & Robyn Kruckeberg formed a new, transformational initiative: The Leo Augusta Children’s Academy, a nonprofit organization.

The organization has flourished. Much of this success is because of the childcare and education center’s talented leadership team. Doug Anderson has served as Academy Director since 2021. After a lifelong career in child development, Doug announced his retirement.

Doug began his career with a B.S. in Education from St. Cloud State University followed by a Master’s Degree and Certification as an Educational Administrator from Saint Mary’s University.

He began his classroom teaching career in 1985 working in education for nearly 40 years. Midcareer Doug transitioned into leadership and administration. Prior to joining the Leo Augusta Children’s Academy, he was principal of a southern Minnesota elementary school for over a decade.

“Doug’s professionalism and love for children was an extraordinary gift to the academy,” said Board Chair Amy Hinzmann. “He has been instrumental in assisting with development of our vision and mission through these early years of the Academy.”

When asked about his experience at the Academy, it was clear Doug had a passion.

“I am proud to sunset my career at Leo Augusta,” he said. “My focus was to shape the Academy as an early childhood preparatory life skills school, not a daycare facility. We’ve achieved this by promising and delivering curriculum for every child at every level. I’m very proud of what we’ve developed as a leading regional child development facility.”

Because of Doug’s leadership the Leo Augusta Children’s Academy of Blooming Prairie is thriving. The facility has proven to be a much-needed children’s development and care facility within the heart of the underserved southeastern Minnesota rural area.

Doug’s next life chapter will unfold in Alexandria, MN. It is with gratitude the staff at Leo Augusta wish Doug well with his deserved retirement!
