The Leo Augusta Children’s Academy of Blooming Prairie, MN is currently seeking talented Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Paraprofessionals who are looking to be a part of a team that provides innovative and developmentally focused early education for the whole child. The Leo Augusta Children’s Academy is growing and vows to set the standard for child care excellence. The focus of our program is to provide a lifelong love of learning.

Our staff will be made up of loving and dedicated individuals who understand each child’s needs. Assistant Director

The Leo Augusta Children’s Academy is looking for an Assistant Director who seeks to spend their day making a difference in the lives of children, shaping them for elementary school and beyond. We are seeking qualified candidates with excellent leadership skills and experience managing team members and families in a licensed early childcare/education facility.

Qualifications:

  • Child care education and staff management desired

  • Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required

  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference in their lives

  • Cultivate positive relationships with children, families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and donors

  • Support the Academy’s success by partnering with center staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, education, and engagement of children

  • Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. with the handling of children

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Academy Director
  • Assists in the overall management of enrollments and transitioning of children
  • Must see that all state licensing requirements are maintained
  • Develops relationships with all state licensing and other regulatory agencies
  • Assists in hiring staff
  • Ensures new hires complete orientation training for staff before they begin working
  • Ensures that school is properly staffed and that all staff persons perform their duties
  • Ensures that deadlines are met to ensure the facility operates i.e. payroll, supplies, etc.
  • Provide staff schedule development and management support
  • Sets up and maintains all staff personnel and child files
  • Reviews communications going to parents that are written by staff members
  • Sets up and ensures implementation of strong parent communications
  • Overall management of operational functions such as ensuring monthly emergency drills are implemented, updates of operation manuals, etc.
  • Provides office administration support as needed such as answering phones, management of parent and center communication and documentation app (brightwheel)
  • Acts as a substitute teacher when necessary

Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher

Responsible To:  Academy Director and Assistant Director

Position Purpose:  To provide a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the care of the Leo Augusta Children’s Academy environment. This includes our classrooms, outdoor play area, gymnasium, and field trips. To promote the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of our children. As a teacher, you will support and encourage parent involvement in our programming and activities. To develop individual goals for children, to administer and provide ongoing assessment and progress reports to families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet the needs of our children; including those who may have special needs, who are at risk, are culturally diverse, or who are gifted.
  • Integrate the philosophy and all components of the Leo Augusta Children’s Academy into daily class time.
  • Fully implement the Creative Curriculum and Gold Assessment program into your daily programming. Encourage and support the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of our children.
  • Support and encourage the individual needs and strengths of children through one-on-one and group activities.
  • Develop lesson plans, group experiences, choice time, and music and art activities through a consistent schedule. Incorporate large and small motor activities, and STEAM activities into daily lessons.
  • Encourage socialization, cooperation, exploration, and experimentation as part of our daily programming.
  • Support and provide a classroom environment that encourages parental support and involvement.
  • Coordinate special services for students based on need. Foster a collaborative attitude with families, other staff, and specialists.
  • Always monitor and supervise children.
  • Respond to emergencies that may occur. Participate in required professional development courses and training, team meetings, and parent conferences as required by the Department of Human Services and the Academy.
  • Maintain current student documentation including progress notes, assessments, screening, observations, and communications.
  • Prepare classroom lessons and activities that are developmentally appropriate and challenging and will address the strengths and needs of our children. Adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of individual education or care plans.
  • Assure general security, cleanliness guidelines, and expectations of the Academy.
  • Maintain and uphold confidentiality requirements and expectations of the Academy.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • A Lead Teacher or Assistant Teacher must be at least 18 years of age and meet the qualifications of the State (link provided at the end of the posting).
  • Prefer two years of classroom experience and experience with meeting the needs of all children (at risk, special needs, culturally diverse, and at-risk).
  • Ability to link curriculum to daily classroom activities and exploration.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Employment is conditional pending the successful completion of a Background Verification Study.
  • Ability to lift to 40 pounds during the workday.

Paraprofessional-Program Assistant

Responsible To:  Lead or Assistant Teacher
