We have a strong partnership of professionals working hard to move LACA forward, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this vision to life for the Blooming Prairie community!
Ms. Allison Walters,
Allison is originally from Washington state and recently moved to Brownsdale with her husband. When you first meet Allison there is a warmth about her that you immediately feel will be good with our young preschoolers. She has worked with children since she was 14 and her love for working in the classroom does not go unseen. Allison’s creative side goes a long way with our preschoolers. Her flexibility and go with the flow attitude give the children ease. Allison’s hobbies include art, painting, rock climbing, hiking, and graphic design. Our preschoolers are kept challenged with the many fun activities Allison plans for them.
Ms. Nevaeh Garcia
Infant Lead Teacher
Nevaeh Garcia lives in Blooming Prairie and is a self-motivated individual who is an advocate for children and others. Nevaeh has provided care for children ages newborn through 12 years of age. Nevaeh has also worked as a personal care assistant taking care of elderly residents and paying special attention to their individualized care plans and supporting their needs.
Nevaeh’s encouraging and nurturing spirit is a gift to the Academy. Welcome to the Academy, Nevaeh!
Ms. Shelby Hagen,
Shelby comes to Leo Augusta from its neighboring community, Hollandale. Shelby lives with her boyfriend Will, her 2 dogs Bella and Buddy, and is expecting a new addition of their own this coming Spring. Shelby earned her 2-year degree in early education and thrives with our oldest of preschoolers. The children adore her as they work on their numbers, letters, circle time, and the many projects Shelby puts in front of them. Shelby’s students find her thoughtful, caring, a master joke teller and full of patience – just ask them! The children are eagerly waiting the anticipation of meeting Shelby’s upcoming newborn child. In Shelby’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and participates in a weekly volleyball league.
Ms. Jesseca Steinborn,
Infant Program Assistant
Jessica is originally from LeSueur but has called Blooming Prairie home over the last 4 years. Jessica has 3 wonderful children who keep her busy. When she has spare time, Jessica finds herself enjoying gardening & canning, sewing, cooking, and baking.
Jessica is a natural caregiver. For the last 18 years she has taken care of the elderly in nursing homes & assisted living units and also worked in after school programs. Jessica has many strengths, however, her patience, creativity, and emotional intelligence bring our infants what they need at the very right time.

Ms. Jodi Rudnick,
Jodi lives in Blooming Prairie with her husband of 27 years. She has 3 grown children and 5 lovely grandchildren. Jodi is a thrill seeker who enjoys sky diving, rock climbing, snowmobiling and snow shoeing – if it’s an outdoor challenge you can typically count Jodi in. Jodi’s work life has always consisted of working with people or children. Her experience with the elderly in assisted living and hospice care, working with adults going through challenging times, or assisting in the school system as a paraprofessional has always brought Jodi joy. She works very well under pressure and is determined and happy to give a helping hand.
Ms. Jordann Battey,
Toddler Assistant Teacher
Jordann joins the Academy with over 7 years of experience as a childcare provider. From having served as a Lead Teacher in a childcare program, to operating her in-home daycare, Jordann is excited to be the Assistant Infant Teacher at Leo Augusta. Her knowledge and understanding of how children learn and succeed and her passion for children and learning are gifts to the Academy.
Jordann holds an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and an AAS degree in Veterinary Technology. Jordann has also been employed as a Personal Care Assistant. She has strong teaching and communication skills. Jordann enjoys giving back to her community. When she has free time, she volunteers at the Humane Society, has fostered animals, and has coached T-ball. As an adult, she enjoys playing softball and spending time with her daughter.
Ms. Kaylee Chick,
Kaylee brings to the academy 6 years of related work experience using her well-rounded capabilities to serve our toddler development needs. Kaylee’s unique way of creating age-appropriate lesson plans will serve as a strength to the academy and undoubtedly keep our toddlers learning without even knowing it.
Kaylee graduated in 2023 with a Certificate in Early Education. Kaylee resides in Austin and enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her boyfriend, babysitting, binge-watching TV series, and spending time outdoors (campfires, and camping). Kaylee loves interacting with kids and the connections that she builds with parents and families along the way.

Ms. Casaundra Green,
Toddler Program Assistant
Casaundra Green is a Blooming Prairie resident and has lived here her entire life. Casaundra has been employed in the healthcare field for 5 years. She has developed a strong skillset in supporting individuals with mental health and disabilities. Cass has worked with both adults and children who have challenging behaviors. She is passionate about taking care of others and helping them to grow.
Cass is excited to be working at the Academy where she can continue to use her skills and help children to become wonderful individuals and leaders. We are excited to have you work with our children, Cass! Welcome to the Academy!
Ms. Lily Graves,
Lily lives in Blooming Prairie and is currently a junior at Blooming Prairie High School. Lily has spent summers babysitting young children and loves working with kids. Her plans include attending college, and she has the desire to become an elementary school teacher.
Lily loves animals and has a small dog named Olive. She is the middle child of two brothers. Lily has a passion for dance and has been dancing since the age of three. She currently is a member of a dance team in Owatonna.

Ms. Bianca Ibarra,
Bianca lives in Blooming Prairie with her boyfriend and her son. Bianca currently is enrolled at Riverland Community College-Austin and is working on completing her Registered Nursing degree.
Bianca has spent much of her time working as a Certified Nursing Assistant but now has a very strong desire for childcare. She loves getting to experience the changes that take place in children as they grow and learn.
Bianca especially appreciates the opportunity to make connections with each child and family who attends the Academy.
Ms. Sondra Hanenberger,
Program Assistant Float
Sondra lives in Blooming Prairie with her husband and 2 young girls. Her family enjoys fishing southern Minnesota lakes and camping during the summer months. Sondra has worked a number of years in customer service and has also worked in the cafeteria and as a substitute paraprofessional in public schools.
Sondra’s flexibility makes her a great team player. Her willingness and ability to float between classrooms is an asset to Leo Augusta. Sondra’s gift of patience is well received from the children she encounters throughout her day.
Olive Blume is a Program Assistant at Leo Augusta Children’s Academy. Olive is a Blooming Prairie resident and has two siblings. Olive enjoys watching movies and loves cats. Olive’s aim is to become a veterinary technician later in life. Welcome to the Academy, Olive!
Ms. Hannah Kinny,
Hannah Kinny loves her position at the Leo Augusta Children’s Academy, and the Academy staff are thankful for Hannah. She brings one year of childcare experience to Leo Augusta as a Custodial Support Person and Program Assistant. Hannah chose to work at LACA because of her passion for working with children. She loves building connections with children and their families. When not working at Leo Augusta, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and listening to music.
Ms. Wanda Edge,
Program Assistant/Part Time
Wanda Edge is a part-time Program Assistant at the Academy. She retired in May of 2023 and lives in Blooming Prairie with her husband Doug. Wanda has three daughters. Two of her daughters live in Blooming Prairie and one lives in Massachusetts. Wanda and Doug are grandparents to five children, all of whom live in Blooming Prairie. Previously Wanda has worked in the accounting field. The Academy is blessed to have Wanda’s enthusiasm and energy that she brings to children every day.
Wanda’s philosophy on life aligns with the familiar saying that, “One hundred years from now it will not matter what your bank was, the sort of house you lived in, or the kind of car you drove. But the world may be different because you were important in the life of a child.”

Ms. Dominique Rainville,
Infant Program Assistant
Dominique (Dom) lives on a hobby farm with her Fiancé, Ben. They have adopted 3 beautiful little girls and also foster children in need, making their family unit whole. Dom and her family love the outdoors. They care for chickens and goats on their farm and go camping whenever given the chance.
Dom is currently pursuing a certificate in early education and has worked in childcare for over 2 years. Dom’s sense of humor and the patience she bestows is appreciated by our littles who may be small but run the show!
Ms. Deidre Slowinski,
Food Service Manager
Deidre is a rural Blooming Prairie resident who has been married for 41 wonderful years. She has 3 awesome sons and 3 beautiful daughters-in-law. She adores her 5 grandchildren who keep her on her toes. Deidre loves spending time with her family and working in her yard whenever possible caring for her flower gardens.
Deidre has a tremendous work ethic having served residents at Prairie Manor for 21 years in dietary. Deidre also worked in customer service at Floor Tech for over 12 years. Deidre’s smile is infectious, and our children love the variety coming out of her kitchen.
